This custom invitation was created for my nephew Lucas’s very first birthday! The inspiration for the birthday invitations were inspired from Lucas’ namesake- Cabo San Lucas. We wanted to reflect the fun and laid back feel of the beach town while incorporating some of Lucas’ favorite beach activities. The maracas were the perfect illustration to bring in the Mexican influence as well as one of Lucas’ favorite things to do right now- playing with anything that makes noise!
I love how Lucas’ hand lettered name on the back of the card came together. It also worked as an illustration that Lucas’ mom could tie back to the party through reusing it in her party decor.
All of the illustrations were individually hand painted with watercolors and india inks. The hand lettered text in ocean blue sets the tone for the sunny fiesta celebration to come! The cards were printed on a beautiful cotton card stock to compliment the playful watercolor nuances and bleeds.
And I most definitely had to include a picture of the man of the hour!! Isn’t he the cutest?
Hailey and Ryan were married on Hailey’s family ranch in Kerrville, Texas. The ranch holds a special place in her heart with it’s long family history and many childhood memories. While Hailey and Ryan dated, the ranch became a meaningful place in their relationship and many of their favorite memories together were created there. With the sentimental meaning, the beautiful rolling hills and the blooming cactus, the ranch served as the perfect backdrop to their big day! Brooke Schwab did a beautiful job capturing how the beautiful Texas hill country surroundings created the perfect setting for the romantic rustic designs.
We designed the invitations to set the mood for Hailey & Ryan’s guests and to give them a taste of the intimate ranch wedding to come. The invitations were printed on cherry wood and were accompanied by a custom map, reply card and accommodations card printed in chocolate brown on a beautiful ivory cotton paper. We used the monogram and the wood veneer to play up the Texas theme, while the soft calligraphy and traditional layout gave the suite a romantic and elegant feel. The illustrated map of Kerrville captured the couple’s favorite landmarks in the charming hill country town. To pull everything together, the wedding suite was wrapped in twine and finished off with a coordinating cherry wood tag.
The couple’s illustrated monogram was used throughout their wedding day paper. We branded everything from monogrammed koozies to the custom monogrammed “yay” signs guests waved in the air after the couple was announced husband and wife. We also reincorporated the cherry wood in the couple’s wedding day menus.

I had so much fun working with Hillary on her wedding paper. Even the planning leading up to the wedding was full of love and joy. When we first met, her mother, aunt and cousins were all there to be a part of the design process. Everyone was so excited to spread the wonderful news of Hillary and Christopher’s marriage.
For her wedding invitations, we fell in love with an elegant satin pewter ribbon and the rest of the suite’s design fell in to place around it. We wanted to stay with the classic style, but kick it up a notch. We chose a whimsical calligraphy by Natalie of Love Letter Calligraphy and had it letterpressed in pewter on a heavy four-ply card. Here is where our hearts really flutter— we had the outer edge of the invitation beveled and hand painted with a custom metallic pewter. The invitations were each wrapped with the luxe satin ribbon and sealed in silver lined envelopes.
For the programs, we used a luxe card stock paper with the whimsical calligraphy adorning each page. Each booklet was held together with Hillary and Chris’ signature sparkling pewter ribbon.
Thank you to Bows and Arrows for the gorgeous florals and photo styling, Love Letter Calligraphy for being so fun to work with and Helen Byrd for never failing to take our breath away with your photos!
Kelly and Harrison were married in a dreamy snow covered chapel in Vail, Colorado. In whimsical watercolor, we made this soon to be home of the couple’s “I-Do’s” the spotlight of the design. My computer and I rarely spend much time apart, so I always look forward to designs where I can unplug and grab my trusty paint brush!
I love how Kelly, the bride, chose the winter wonderland motif of pinecones to be carried throughout her wedding paper and cannot wait to show you pictures of the wedding Invitations and day of paper!
We love these aztec inspired invites! Natalie, also an artist, has an amazing eye for detail and I love the color combination she went with- a warm gray, a pop of turquoise and all sealed together in a gorgeous kraft envelope.
Claire and Ryan are such an adorable couple. Anyone who has worked with Pearly Gates Designs knows we are huge dog lovers so when we heard Ryan proposed to Claire on her dog’s dog tag, we couldn’t hold in our girly AWEEEE! Claire and Ryan had a modern style ceremony in Dripping Springs so we wanted to tie that in with the save the dates. The gold foiling accents with the navy letterpress and sketch of the couple’s faces portray the couple’s modern and fun loving relationship perfectly– especially coupled with that adorable picture!
Today’s post is an extra special one for me! Libby and her family hold a special spot in my heart and sharing in their special day was such an honor for me.
The bride and her mother (both of whom are brilliant designers) found a beautiful fabric with the perfect pinch of fun and a dash of sweetness to pull inspiration for the wedding design. The fabric was perfectly layered in throughout the wedding from the couples wedding cake table linen to the bridesmaid skirts. We even recreated the fabric to be used as the wedding invitation envelope liners. There is no denying God’s work in bringing Libby and Tate together and we paid tribute to this with a one-of-a-kind cross heading the invitation in raised gold ink.
Wishing you both the very best and thank you for letting me share in such a special day!
I’m so excited to share my good friends, Catherine and Kolbe’s wedding invitations! Catherine and Kolbe’s wedding was a romantic dream that took place at her grandfather’s estate. With a surprise down pour of rain, you would never guess anything was awry by the happiness and love filling the air! We did a simple elegant design in raised silver ink cradled in a lush white enclosure and sealed with a beautiful satin ribbon.
